You can provide patrons easy access to specific search results by creating a Quicksearch button. The button uses a URL that you formulate to complete a specific search. When the URL is included in a Quicksearch button and activated for a profile, patrons can click the button to easily access those search results.
To create a search URL
| 1 | In Searching, open the Advanced Search page. |
| 2 | Enter the search string (if desired) that you want. |
You can also enter any terms that you want to have excluded from the search.
| 3 | Select the limits and targets you want applied to the search. |
| 4 | Choose Advanced Search. |
The search results list opens.
| 5 | If you want to restrict the search any further, use the facets to include and exclude navigators from the search. |
| 6 | Copy the URL from the slash after the profile name to the end of the URL. |
For example, for this URL:
http://www.mylibrary.com/client/en_US/default/search/results?qu=kitty&qf=AUTHOR%09Author%09Bruel%2C+Nick.%09Bruel%2C+Nick.&te=ILS
If the profile is "default", you would copy only this portion: search/results?qu=kitty&qf=AUTHOR%09Author%09Bruel%2C+Nick.%09Bruel%2C+Nick.&te=ILS
| 7 | Paste the URL into the Search URL field in the Add/Edit Quicksearch Button page. For more information, see Adding or editing a Quicksearch button. |
